Crooked teeth can cause a range of oral health issues, including gum disease, and make you feel self-conscious about your smile.

At Premier Dental & Implant Center, we offer braces to straighten your teeth and create a healthier, more comfortable bite.

So why should you straighten your smile with braces?

Braces Can Create a Better Bite and a More Beautiful Smile

Higher Self-Esteem

Having a straight, symmetrical smile that you can feel proud of can promote a more positive self-image and make you feel more confident about your appearance.

Personalized Treatment Options

Our orthodontists, Dr. Amer Shammaa and Dr. Debra Alavi, can customize treatment with braces to address a wide variety of issues, from slightly crooked teeth to serious jaw misalignments.

A Better Bite

Braces can realign your bite to make chewing easier, improve your digestion, and reduce wear and tear on your teeth.

Braces Can Address a Variety of Misalignments

An overbite refers to a condition when the upper jaw extends farther forward than the lower jaw. This issue can cause damage to the front teeth and make your upper lip protrude.

When your lower teeth jut out past your upper teeth, it is called an underbite.

Where an overbite or underbite both involve the teeth jutting too far forward or backward, a crossbite occurs when the teeth are laterally misaligned

Open Bite

With an open bite, the upper and lower jaw do not meet correctly, which can prevent you from closing your jaw fully.

Gapped Teeth

Large spaces between the teeth can affect the appearance of your smile and also cause difficulties eating and speaking.

Crowded Teeth

When there is not enough room in the jaw for every tooth, it is often harder to keep your smile clean and the risk of bad breath, cavities, and other oral health problems increases.

So what happens during treatment with braces?

The Path to a Straighter Smile

Before beginning your treatment, your doctor will use x-rays, impressions, and other information to create a personalized orthodontic treatment plan. At Premier Dental & Implant Center, we use a cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) machine to create a digital view of your teeth while exposing patients to the lowest amount of radiation possible.

The Treatment Process

Spacer Appointment

If your teeth are overcrowded, you will need to come into our office about a week before receiving braces so we can place spacers between your molars and make room for the orthodontic bands.

Bonding Appointment

Once there is enough space between your molars, your doctor will bond the brackets to the fronts or backs of your teeth and place the archwire and bands.

Your doctor will adjust your braces about every six to eight weeks to continue your progress. A typical treatment with braces takes 18 to 24 months.

Debonding Appointment

Once your teeth have reached their proper position, your doctor can remove the brackets and take impressions for an orthodontic retainer.

Long-Term Checkup

We generally recommend you schedule an appointment about 18 months after the end of treatment so we can check that your teeth are staying in the proper place.

Cost of Braces

Orthodontia can enhance the appearance of your smile and improve your oral health by correcting bite issues and aligning teeth. However, some patients may be hesitant to pursue treatment because of the expense. While the cost of braces will vary depending on your goals and needs, our friendly team is happy to work with you to develop a treatment plan that fits your budget. At Premier Dental & Implant Center, the cost of traditional metal braces typically starts at $3,500. We also offer Invisalign for those patients who wish to undergo more discreet treatment.

How Much Will My Treatment Cost?

A pie chart detailing factors that affect cost of bracesTraditional metal braces are typically less expensive than other solutions such as Invisalign. The best way to find out how much your orthodontic treatment plan will cost is to schedule a consultation at our office. During the appointment, Dr. Akhras or Dr. Alavi will review detailed scans and x-rays to examine your oral structure and design a personalized treatment plan for your situation. There are many factors that can affect the overall cost of your braces, such as:

  • Extent of work: The complexity of your case is a major factor in determining the cost of your treatment. Severe misalignments or issues that require extended treatment timelines or specialized orthodontic appliances and techniques will increase your overall cost.
  • Preparatory procedures: If you have teeth that need extracted or your oral structure requires modification before undergoing orthodontics, both the timeline and the cost of your treatment will be affected. Your dentist may recommend additional preparatory appliances, including palatal expanders or spacers, or treatment for decay and dental damage before placing your braces.
  • Duration of treatment: Straightening teeth is a gradual process that requires a significant time investment. The longer your treatment plan takes, the more expensive your treatment will be.
  • Material: Orthodontists use several different materials for braces which carry different costs. Traditional brackets and wires are made of metal, though in recent years, dentists have begun offering ceramic, tooth-colored braces as well as clear braces which are less intrusive on the appearance of your smile.

Early, or Phase 1, treatment is typically done between the ages of six and 10 before all permanent teeth have erupted. The prices of braces and appliances for Phase 1 differ significantly from the cost of braces later in life. It is important to discuss with Dr. Akhras or Dr. Alavi whether Phase 1 treatment would be beneficial for your child. During a consultation, they can provide a price estimate for Phase 1 procedures.

Undergoing orthodontic treatment can prevent future oral health concerns and costly follow-up procedures, protecting your smile.

Advanced Technology for Accurate Treatment

At Premier Dental & Implant Center, we strive to provide the most up-to-date treatments and techniques for our clients. For patients undergoing orthodontic treatment, we employ advanced cone beam computed tomography (CT) imaging technology to determine candidacy and design comprehensive treatments. By creating a detailed plan before beginning treatment, we can minimize both your treatment time and cost.

Many insurance providers cover orthodontic treatments. We can work with your provider to maximize your benefits and limit out-of-pocket expenses. We also accept CareCredit® financing to ensure that your treatment plan fits your budget.

Invest in Your Future Health

Even slight misalignment in your bite can lead to serious dental issues if left untreated. Undergoing orthodontic treatment can prevent future oral health concerns and costly follow-up procedures, protecting your smile.
