Yamen Akhras, DDS, MS Board-Certified Periodontist 
and Leading Implant Specialist

Dr. Yamen Akhras brings over a decade of experience in advanced dentistry, with a passion for helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Minnesota in 2012 and practiced as a general dentist for nearly nine years before pursuing specialty training in periodontics and implantology.

He completed a rigorous residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, earning both a Master’s degree in Oral Sciences and a Certificate in Periodontics. During his time at UIC, he served as Chief Resident and received multiple awards for excellence in clinical care, leadership, and education.

His postgraduate work includes:

• Advanced training in dental implant placement and bone grafting

• A master’s thesis focused on minimally invasive surgical techniques

• Ongoing research into implant design and bone preservation

• Honors including the Rosenfeld Periodontics Educational Award

Dr. Akhras is known for his compassionate, hands-on approach and dedication to evidence-based care. Whether performing routine procedures or complex surgical treatments, he combines technical skill with genuine concern for his patients’ well-being.

Away from the office, Dr. Akhras enjoys life in the Chicago suburbs with his wife and three sons. You’ll often find him outdoors biking, playing soccer, or building Lego creations with his kids.
